Monroe Township Middle School Addition and Renovations - Phase I
Williamstown, New Jersey
While designing this project, The Design Collaborative’s solution was to utilize the existing core areas as a “barrier” between the proposed 5/6 and 7/8 school. Additions on both sides of the core areas were constructed in phases as to minimize operational and program disruption. The first phase of this project was to construct a 1-story addition consisting of 16 new general classrooms and science classrooms for the 7/8 grade students. In addition, the plan hoped to ease circulation patterns through additional looped corridors. Also, security would be enhanced through expanded and relocated administrative areas incorporated into the project. Phase one was occupied by the students and staff in December 2003. The Design Collaborative obtained the maximum State Aid (54.27%) for the Monroe Township School District for this project.
