Avon Elementary School Addition and Renovations
Barrington, New Jersey
The new construction at the Avon Elementary School included four Grade 4 general classrooms, two kindergarten classrooms, two special education classrooms, one art classroom and a music classroom. A faculty planning/ workroom and a cafetorium were also part of the new design. Pre-existing spaces were converted into two small group instruction spaces, a library media center, and speech therapy room. Much of the renovation aspect of the planned design was focused on the administrative offices, such as the main office, principle’s office, guidance office, and a health suite for the nurse. Students and faculty occupied the new spaces in September 2006. The Design Collaborative acquired the maximum State Aid (33.14%) for this project.
